Meaning of the Colored Stripes on the Books

Yellow - Books marked in yellow are found in all library collections and are not for loan.

Red Gray - Books marked in red and gray are found in all library collections and are not for loan.

Brown - Books marked with a brown strip could be found in the dictionary collection, which is located on the 1.5th floor of the Northern wing. They are not for loan except for use during exams, beginning half an hour before the exam begins.

Pink - Books marked with a pink strip belong to the law collection, located on the first floor in the Northern wing. The loan period is 14 days.

Pink Gray Books marked with a pink and gray strip belong to the reserved law collection. They are located at the reserved collection area. The loan period is 7 days.

Pink Black Yellow - Books marked with a black, yellow and pink strip belong to the reserved law collection. They are located in the reserve collection area and can be borrowed for the weekend from 12:00 on Friday to Sunday at 10:00.

Black - Books marked with a black strip are located at the reserved collection. They can only be borrowed overnight (From 17:45 until 10:00 the next day and on Thursday from 15:45 to Sunday at 10:00).

Gray - Books marked with a gray strip are located at the reserved collection. They can be borrowed for three days.

Gray Green  Books marked with a gray and green strip are located at the reserved collection. They can be borrowed for three days.

Blue - Books marked with a blue strip are located at the reserved collection. Check the circulation desk for loan periods. 

Orange - Books marked with an orange strip are located at the reserved collection. Check the circulation desk for loan periods. 

Turquoise - Books marked in turquoise are located at the reserved collection. They are not for loan.

Different colored children's books could be found at the Children's and Youth Library, on the Northern wing on floor 2.5. All items in the collection are not for loan apart for books marked with a green stripe.

Academic Writing Center

The Dean's Unit for Academic Excellence Writing Center operates in room 281 in the central wing of the Library's entrance floor.

Library Quiet Areas & Group Study Rooms

The library is a quiet library. Students are requested to refrain from studying in pairs or groups expect in designated areas: discussion rooms, group study rooms, the map area, and in the previous reference area on the Northern wing first floor.

Please note! In order to maintain reasonable conditions for study and research in the Library, patrons are requested to refrain from eating, drinking (besides water in bottle with a spill-resistant lid) and making noise. Use of cell phones is prohibited; please turn them off before entering the Library. Patrons who violate these rules are subject to disciplinary action.

Library Dining Areas 

There are two dining areas are available in the library's Northern wing; one is located on floor 1.5 and the other is on floor 2.5. The dining areas were created following students' requests to eat and drink without leaving the library. Students can heat their food, eat it and prepare cold and hot drinks in the dining area. The library has equipped these areas with special tables and chairs, a hot and cold water machine and food-related pictures and posters. The student union which collaborated with the library on this initiative, has also donated two microwave ovens. The library invites its users to enjoy the dining areas and wishes to remind them that food and drinks are prohibited in other areas within the library.











The Audio-Visual Center

In memory of Dr. Dvora Rafaeli-Eshkol

Stations for viewing video, DVD and cassettes, as well as audio stations have been designated within the Media area in the central wing for use by the University of Haifa community only. The stations are intended for viewing and listening of library items only. Users are requested to pay attention to the usage guidelines posted at these stations.

- Items should be located via the OneSearch system on the library homepage. 

- CDs and scores are available in the Media Department music area.

- Assistance, kits, DVDs, and headsets for use with the computers are available at the Researve Desk.
